Sandön
Sandhamn, also known as Sandön, is an island with a fascinating history, located at the far end of the Stockholm archipelago. Despite its remote location, the island is full of life, both on land and at sea. With its rocky shores and white sandy beaches, Sandön offers an idyllic setting. There is a wide range of restaurants and a vibrant nightlife, whether you are looking for an excellent dinner or a refreshing drink. The guest harbour in Sandhamn consists of three pontoon piers with approximately 120 guest berths, located in front of the classic Seglarhotellet. 20 berths on Pier A can be reserved in advance via Dockspot. The harbour is open from May until the last weekend of October. To reach Sandhamn by boat, follow the illuminated channel north of Sandön. Boats with a shallow draft can also use the marked channel between Telegrafholmen and Lökholmen (depth 1.5 m). For bookings of boats over 50 feet, please contact the harbour master directly at sandhamn@ksss.se.
Sandhamn during the winter season
During autumn, winter and spring, Sandhamn is an excellent destination for those who want to experience and enjoy the tranquillity and natural beauty of the archipelago all year round. Seglarhotellet is open year-round and offers a variety of activities for its guests. The pine forests, beaches and sea are perhaps at their most beautiful during winter, when you can experience Sandhamn without the crowds that arrive during the summer months.
Services in Sandhamn
From the opening of the guest harbour in May until the end of September, electricity and water are available on the pontoons, as well as a larger service building with showers, toilets and laundry facilities. Laundry times can be booked through the KSSS harbour staff. Next to Pier C, Sandhamn’s marine fuel station offers everything from fuel, gas and ropes to tools and other useful supplies for your boat. KSSS harbour staff reserve the right to move boats within the harbour in order to accommodate more guests. This also applies to boats that have booked a berth through Dockspot. Your booking guarantees you a place on the designated pier, but not necessarily the exact berth number shown in your confirmation. Electricity is paid for when booking through Dockspot and is available on all piers.
From October to May, the service buildings are closed and water is shut off on the pontoons. Electricity remains available on Pier B year-round. Payment is required 24 hours a day, all year round.
Things to See & Do
There is plenty to explore on and around the island. You will find everything from restaurants, bars and shops to exciting activities. For the adventurous, there are opportunities to try kitesurfing or rent a kayak and explore the archipelago from the water. If you prefer to relax, Seglarhotellet’s spa and relaxation area offers a peaceful setting, or you can enjoy the sun on one of the island’s three sandy beaches. Pick up a picnic from the local shop or let one of the island’s cafés prepare something delicious for you. History enthusiasts can visit the archipelago museum, filled with objects and stories that offer an insight into life on the island throughout the ages. Feel free to contact the KSSS harbour staff for more tips and recommendations!
